This notice explains how Megan Henley ("we", "us") handles personal data when you use Folio. Megan Henley is the data controller, meaning we decide how and why your personal data is used.
What we collect and why
- Account details (name, email, sign-in details, including Google sign-in) — to create and secure your account. Basis: contract.
- Planner content (tasks, habits, journal entries, moods, songs, notes, lists, shared planner content and reactions) — to provide the Service. Basis: contract.
- Device and notification data (push notification tokens, device and browser type, IP address) — to send reminders you turn on and to keep the Service secure. Basis: contract and legitimate interests.
- Support messages (help chat and emails) — to answer your questions. Basis: contract and legitimate interests.
- Usage data (pages visited, basic analytics) — to fix problems and improve Folio. Basis: legitimate interests.
Payment details are collected by Paddle, not by us.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who host and run Folio for us, such as hosting, database, push notification (Google Firebase), email delivery and AI support-chat providers.
- Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for selling Folio Plus, managing subscriptions, payments, tax and invoicing.
- Spotify or Apple Music, only when you add a song link and its player loads.
- Professional advisers (such as legal and accounting), and authorities where required by law.
Members of a shared planner can see that planner's content. Your personal tasks, journal, moods and notes are never shared with them. We do not sell your personal data.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, or it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records by law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your data, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. Email us to use these rights; we respond within one month.
International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections, access controls and per-account data protection.
Cookies and local storage
Folio uses essential browser storage to keep you signed in and remember preferences such as appearance and collapsed sections. We use basic analytics to understand visits. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear stored data in your browser settings, though you may then need to sign in again.
